About Crop Because You Care

Crop Because You Care was founded in 2001 by Kris Hansen and Karen Glenn to help raise money and awareness for Epilepsy in Utah. What started out small has since blossomed into the Premier Scrapbooking event in Utah, being copied by many organizations. Crop has seen annual growth, slowing down in past years, but still enjoys a healthy stream of Crafters. All profits were used to fund Camp Spike and Wave over the years providing 65 teenagers, with epilepsy, the opportunity of enjoying a safe camping environment. This camp gives teenagers that are dealing with the many challenges of epilepsy, opportunities to participate in activities that they wouldn't normally be able to take pleasure in and the chance to talk with other teenagers coping with similar things.

Camp Spike and Wave is sponsored by CBYC and the Epilepsy Association of Utah. New statistics conclude that 1 in every 26 people are affected with epilepsy at some time in their lives. Epilepsy is a disorder with a variety of causes and may also be considered a seizure disorder. Epilepsy affects more people than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease combined.

About The Epilepsy Association of Utah
